Directions:Start: The loop starts at the Sheetz on WV 7 (Sabraton exit off I-68). The Sheetz is about a quarter mile from I-68. South on I-68 for 4 miles to exit #1 (jct 119) Continue on 119 south to jct 50 in Grafton Left on 50 east to jct 72 Right on 72 south to jct 219 in Parsons Left on 219 north to jct 32 in Thomas Right on 32 south to end at jct 33 in Harmon Left on 33 east. Follow past Seneca Rocks, Franklin and Brandywine, over the mountains into Virginia. When the road gets straight and flat heading to Harrisonburg, turn around. A truly amazing stretch of road. Run 33 west back to jct 220 in Franklin. Yes, it's so good you need to do it again. Right on 220 to jct Smoke Hole Rd just past Upper Tract |
Left on Smoke Hole Rd. Follow to end at jct 28. Note that Smoke Hole Rd connects waypoints 10 to 11 in a more or less straight line. The map shows you continuing on 220 north to Petersburg because Streets and Trips incorrectly thinks there is a break in Smoke Hole Rd. Left on 28 (back towards Seneca) to jct Jordan Run Rd. Watch for signs for Dolly Sods. Right on Jordan Run. Follow end at jct 42 just north of Mayville. Left on 42 up the mountain to Mt Storm. Awesome twisties! Left onto 50 west in Mt Storm. Follow to jct 72. Right on 72 north along the Cheat River (scenic). Follow to end at jct 7 in Kingwood. Left on 7 west. Follow to jct 26 in Kingwood (about a mile) Right on 26 north. Follow to jct I-68 in Bruceton Mills Follow I-68 west back to Morgantown (Sabraton exit) Gas, Food, Etc:Gas is available at all major towns along the route, but you might not find much between the towns. |
